WHAT
DO
WE DO?
AFIS, in conjunction with Delaware Technical and Community College, Stanton Campus, offers a course entitled Family Building Through Adoption. It is designed to educate prospective adoptive parents about the adoption process. This popular 4-week evening course is offered twice a year. The annual Celebrate Adoption event is a celebration of families, cultures, diversity and adoption. It is held on the first Saturday of November, National Adoption Month. It provides an opportunity to interact with new and veteran adoptive families and adoption agency personnel, and to enjoy multi-cultural foods and fun.
Your time and membership dues help to support many activities, including:
· Adoption Library (books and tapes - donated to the Hockessin Public Library) · Support group for parents of Older and Challenging Children - meets the first Friday of every month· African American Families Group · Financial assistance for parent training · Helpline (warm line) Family Building Through Adoption course at Delaware Technical and Community College· AFIS Newsletter· Social Events· Advocacy·
